Rocky Point’s brand new church is now officially a Church of the Nazarene. It was presented as a Nazarene Church at the district assembly in Ensenada, Mexico this January of 2012.
The following are some of the highlights of the last few months leading up to the present day.
October 2011
In Mexico they celebrate the “day of the dead” which is the day after Halloween where they celebrate death. At Rocky Point’s Church of the Nazarene we held a Festival of Life where the church reaches out to the community by sharing the Gospel of Christ with the people. In this night of fun for everyone we also had drama and puppets for the kids, music, food. etc…It was a great night all round!
We had fun being part of a puppet show for the kids (and adults too). Rusty has two family members here in Rocky Point.

November 2011
The Church of the Nazarene had their very first Baptism service on November 13th. Rocky Point had been having great weather up until the night before the service. There was a thunder and lightening storm with a lot of heavy rain which caused our original plans of having the baptism service in the sea to change to plan B where we had a swimming pool set up at Ale and Miguel’s house. Plan A was changed because the road to the beach was closed due to floods. The baptism service still turned out to be a fantastic Sunday and a really good turn out. It was certainly a day to remember for the people concerned and their families.
Below are some pictures taken at the baptism service. Great day! Loved it.

December 2011
Christmas time at the church was a special time where they had an event called The Christmas Festival of Peace. There were more than 120 people there and 7 came to Christ. A lovely meal was prepared for the people along with muffins. Christmas gifts were given to the children. Blankets were handed out to the people to help them keep warm as this time of year can be very cold in Mexico. The Word of God was preached.
Chris´s mum, Nancy Lewis, had it on her heart to help the people of Rocky Point when she came to visit the church, so she decided to help raise money to buy blankets for the people this winter. Nancy managed to spread the word to friends and family.
Once the money was raised we went out and bought the blankets, packed the mini van and drove back down to Rocky Point from the States with our van full. Praise God! We would like to thank everyone involved in helping towards providing blankets. A group of Christians in Arizona also collected blankets, and with all the blankets collected everybody in the church got a blanket.
January 2012
In January, a group from the church went to the Nazarene District Assembly to support the presentation of Rocky Points church to the assembly, and we are happy to announce again that it is now officially a church of the Nazarene. this was a great start to 2012!
